My In-Laws Kicked Me and My Newborn Out — And Then They Regretted It
I live with my husband, our newborn, and my in-laws. Each day, the house is filled with their loud, ongoing arguments. Yesterday, while the baby was napping, I could still hear them shouting despite our door being closed.
During a brief lull, I gently mentioned, “Just so you know, the baby’s sleeping,” and walked away. Moments later, I overheard my father-in-law (FIL) cursing me and complaining about “my house” to my mother-in-law (MIL).
He stormed up to me, still fuming, and said, “You don’t get to shush me in my own home. This is MY house. I gave my son the money to buy it, so you don’t get to tell me what to do. If you think you’re so clever, go stay with your mom where it’s quiet. Maybe when my son gets back from his business trip, he’ll decide whether to let you come back.”
